From requirement to capability.

SERVICES

Some organisations need one clearly defined piece of work. Others need help working through a larger operational change.

Linecraft can support either.

The document is rarely the whole job.

An FCOM needs to reflect the operation. An SOP has to work under workload. A training system has to create competence. A new aircraft needs people, maintenance, procedures and organisational capacity around it.

Linecraft starts with the outcome the organisation needs, then determines what has to exist to support it.

New Aircraft & Capability Introduction

Buying or approving the aircraft is only part of introducing it. The surrounding organisation has to change too.

Linecraft helps define the capability required, map the organisational change, coordinate supporting workstreams and move from design through implementation and assurance.

  • capability and readiness review

  • management-of-change planning

  • FCOM and SOP development

  • training and checking design

  • operational and destination procedures

  • maintenance and technical interfaces

  • transition arrangements

  • bounded entry into service

  • post-launch assurance

The outcome is an operating capability that can function after the implementation project stops receiving extraordinary attention.

FCOM Development

Operational philosophy first. Documentation second.

An effective FCOM should explain how the operator intends to operate the aircraft, not simply reproduce information available elsewhere.

Linecraft works from approved source material, operational requirements and practitioner consultation to define the operating philosophy first, then build the documentation around it.

Work may include:

  • source-document review

  • normal operating philosophy

  • abnormal and emergency philosophy

  • fuel and engine-management policy

  • performance policy

  • SOP interfaces

  • training and checking interfaces

  • validation with operational personnel

  • implementation support

An FCOM that gives pilots a coherent operational model of the aircraft and its place within the operator's system.

SOP Design & Standardisation

Standardise what matters. Preserve technique where variation is harmless.

Good standardisation creates predictable operational behaviour where consistency matters without trying to replace every element of professional judgement.

Linecraft starts by understanding how the operation actually works, where meaningful variation exists and which differences genuinely affect safety, interoperability, training or operational predictability.

Work may include:

  • observation of current practice

  • identification of consequential variation

  • definition of company standard versus pilot technique

  • procedure drafting

  • validation in the operational environment

  • instructor standardisation

  • rollout and assurance

The goal is not identical pilots. It is a shared operational model where the organisation genuinely needs one.

Training & Checking System Review / Redesign

Build the system around competence, not the manual template.

Training systems should deliberately develop the competence the operation requires and create a logical path from initial learning through integration, independent performance and continuing competence.

  • initial and conversion training

  • line development

  • recurrent training

  • checking

  • instructor standardisation

  • competency standards

  • scenario-based training

  • remediation

  • records and continuity between instructors

  • feedback from operations into training design

The strongest training systems allow instructors to understand what they are developing, trainees to understand progression, and the organisation to learn from training performance.

Operational Capability Review

One operational question. A clearer path forward.

Are we ready to introduce this aircraft?

Why is this training system no longer scaling?

What has to exist before we add IFR?

Where is this operation dependent on one person?

An Operational Capability Review maps one defined question across requirements, authority, people, operations, training, technical support, interfaces, resources, transition and assurance.

The result is a concise capability picture, critical dependencies and an implementation pathway—not a generic compliance audit.

Engage at the level you need.
